Saturday was a day for celebrations with friends.
We started the day out with a picnic at the Botanic Gardens. Not everyone could make it; some were away while others couldn't shift plans cos it was kind of last minute. But the boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves thoroughly anyway.
It was a little frustrating at first because we were running late and had to stop to get a wine opener, having forgotten to grab one from home. Plus, we got lost trying to get to Cafe Les Amis and drove about for an hour!
Anyway, as soon as the drizzled cleared up and we found the others, things started looking up. The food was great - kudos to Grace for her delicious spread of cheese and crackers. It went well with the bottle of Merlot we brought and Sue made some wonderful sandwiches which we were deeply honoured for, since she claims that she only makes sandwiches once a year.
The highlight of the day was the lovely "cake" we had. Instead of a normal one, they got us a boxful of little chocolate cupcakes topped with blue and pink cream. They looked so sweet, nestled in a box of lined with shredded paper and tasted even more heavenly!
It was a good time to catch up on the goss with the rest and as the Garden got more and more crowded, we sat there and people-watched. I haven't felt so relaxed in so long and Drew has since decided that we should go to Botanic Gardens on weekends to laze about and read (which I thought was a great idea) and to jog (which I thought was a horrendous notion).

The Birthday Couple
At night, we met up with Sharon and Jules for dinner at Brown Sugar. Joey was out of town and Gen was baby-sitting so it was just the 4 of us. Dinner was good, though a little bit rushed cos we only got there at 9.30pm and the last orders were at 10pm.
Brown Sugar is really cosy and they do a pretty good brunch, but I just thought that its location didn't really suit the atmosphere they were trying to create. Would do better if they were located in Greenwood or 6th Ave, ala corduroy.
Gen managed to join us for drinks at Peppermint Park afterwards, but alas Sharon was not feeling too well and left early. Seemed like it was destined for only 4 Ninjas to meet that day. Had a few drinkies at PP and caught up with each other for a bit. Had some fun playing with the features of my camera cos Jules wanted to take some artistic shots. I'm not sure what that means actually, the phrase always brings to mind nudity. :)
I would write about Sunday but I'm pretty zapped from work today. Hopefully I won't be too slack tomorrow to continue.
Hugs,
