The Accountant...

The Boyfriend, seeing that I was going out of my mind with boredom, asked me to help him out in his office for the week with some accounts matters. Naturally I said yes, because anything with a fixed schedule right now would make me feel like I'm going somewhere.

Man... I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Firstly, the files were enough to scare anyone off. Huge green ring files filled with papers onto which figures and scribblings were crammed. I believe I have developed a distinct phobia of green ring files now.

Secondly, working with the boyfriend in such close proximity had us ruffling each other's feathers every now and then. We'd reach for the same pen together, have a sudden urge to play our respective WMAs, that sort of thing. Perhaps I should see it as we are so alike and therefore extremely compatible. Yes mayhaps, but then I'm not that mature.

But every cloud has a silver lining as follows:

(1) I have never seen the boyfriend in full work mode before, and I have to admit, seeing him in such a position of authority, in full control, coaching his staff firmly but kindly... I have always respected the boyfriend but now am also filled with admiration and a sense of awe.

(2) I felt an extreme sense of satisfaction when I was done with one project file. It took me 1.5 days and I was OD-ing on coffee just to wade through the masses of paperwork. So when I finally saved and closed the file on my computer, I felt like clapping myself on the back. (That was of course, until I realised that I had 22 files more to go. The optimist in me is hoping that I will be faster at it now.)

(3) The boyfriend and I got to spend more time together (lunch, coffee break) which is something we haven't been able to do in a long long time.

(4) Getting to know his fabulous staff better!

And now, the weekend looms ahead wih great promise. We are going to catch a movie (Ratatouille), do a bit of shopping with our reward points vouchers (thank you Citibank!) and wash the car (maybe).

Have a wonderful weekend!
